Ad spend import

An ad spend import template records what each advertising platform actually charged you, one row per platform per day. Taking the figures from each platform's billing page rather than its reporting screen is what keeps the total honest, because attributed revenue overlaps between platforms and spend never does.

The file

nouz-ad-spend-import.csv · 6 columns · one example row

Everything on this file comes from the billing side. Each platform reports the revenue it believes it produced, every platform counts conversions it can plausibly see, and adding those claims together routinely exceeds what the store actually took. What cannot be double counted is the money that left your account, which is why spend is the only advertising figure a statement should ever import.

One row per platform per day is deliberate, not fussy. Marketing costs are recognised on the day they were spent, so a week of spend rolled into a single Monday row makes that Monday look catastrophic and the rest of the week look free. The day-level file is what lets a statement place each euro where it belongs.

Once the rows are in, the ratio worth watching is blended MER, revenue over spend from your own books rather than a platform's. The manual file and a connected platform end up on the same P&L line, so a store can import history here and connect the account later without the numbers moving.

How to use it

  1. 01Open each platform's billing or transactions page, never the campaign reporting screen.
  2. 02Add one row per platform per day, with the amount actually charged.
  3. 03Use the account and campaign columns if you want the breakdown; leave them blank if you do not.
  4. 04Keep the currency column honest: a euro row and a dollar row cannot be added together.
  5. 05Import the file into nouz, or keep it as your own ledger and total it monthly.
