Syncing and data Answer 15 of 16

What happens to orders placed in another currency?

nouz converts them into your store's currency when they sync, at the European Central Bank's reference rate from before the order's day, so every total on your statement is in one currency.

Most stores never meet this. Shopify records orders in the shop's own currency, including Shopify Markets orders a customer paid in another one, and those arrive exactly as Shopify recorded them. The exception is an order a marketplace connector created entirely in a foreign currency, such as an Amazon order in Swedish kronor in a euro shop: Shopify stores it with no amount in the shop currency and converts it only inside its own reports.

The rate is the latest ECB reference rate published before the order's own day in your store's timezone, so an order is priced the same whenever it syncs. One rate covers the whole order: its lines, discounts, tax, shipping, payments, the fees Shopify reports and any later refund, so a full refund cancels the sale exactly. Compare-at prices are not converted, because they come from your catalogue, which is already in the store currency.

The P&L says how many orders in the range were converted and from which currencies. Because Shopify converts with its own rate, a day with such orders can differ from Shopify's reports by a few cents; once Shopify grants nouz access to its own converted figure, nouz will use that instead. If no rate can be had when an order syncs, the order is flagged on the P&L and the Overview, never guessed, and the next sync converts it.
