What are Other costs on the Overhead page?
Other costs are one-off bills outside your normal running costs, like a repair, a lawyer or a trade fair. To add one, click Add cost on the Overhead page, then choose Other costs.
The form asks what it was, the Amount excl. VAT, the Date and an optional Note, like an invoice number. Other costs are always one-time, and each one hits your P&L in full on its date.
They count in Overhead Costs, line 31, so they lower EBITDA only. EBITDA is the profit left after every cost of running the shop. The P&L shows them on their own row under that line, of which other costs. So a month with a repair reads as normal overhead plus the repair, not as overhead suddenly jumping.
Something that lasts for years, like a van or shelving, is not a cost of the month you paid it. It is an investment, and EBITDA leaves it out. Anything that repeats, like a monthly fee, belongs under Overhead instead.
