How do I fill in a shipping rate card?
A rate card is your carrier's price list per parcel. It has one row per shipping zone and one column per weight or box size. Open Logistics and click Shipping. Under Carrier, type a Name like DHL Paket. Under Price per parcel, type the prices as on your carrier's invoice, without VAT. To fill the grid from a price list, click Paste a price list.
Next to Prices by, choose Weight or Box size. On a weight card, each column has a limit in kilograms, like Up to 2 kg, and a parcel takes the first column its weight fits into. The last column, like Over 5 kg, takes every heavier parcel. Click a column's name to change its limit, or click Add weight for another column. An example: the Up to 2 kg column holds €4,90 in the Germany row, so a 1,4 kg parcel to Germany costs €4,90.
On a box size card, the columns count packaging sizes instead, like Up to 2 sizes, and each can have a name, like Letterbox. A parcel's size is the packaging sizes of everything in it, added up. Switching between Weight and Box size asks first when you would lose columns, and each zone keeps its last price.
An empty cell turns amber and is skipped: the parcel takes the next price to its right. Type 0,00 where shipping really costs you nothing. A zone with no price at all shows a warning like No rate for Rest of world, and its parcels are flagged, never shipped for free. A parcel with an unknown weight pays its zone's heaviest price, and one with an unknown size its largest.
Each zone is a row, and the catch-all zone is one of them. Click a zone's name to change its countries, or click Add zone for a new one. Every column but the last needs a limit above 0, and no two columns can share one. Choose the day the prices start under From when these prices count, then click Save at the top. Add another rate card, at the foot of the page, starts a second card, and every running card is charged on top of the others. To compare carriers, read about negotiating a rate card.
