What does each card on the Transaction fees tab mean?

The Transaction fees tab shows what you pay to take payments. A payment provider keeps a small part of each payment as its fee. Shopify calls each way to pay a gateway: Shopify Payments, PayPal or Klarna, for example. Open Insights, then the Transaction fees tab. Every card follows the date range at the top. Shipping costs are on the Logistics tab, and fixed costs on the Overhead tab.

Transaction costs is all payment fees in the range. On Shopify Payments, nouz takes the fee Shopify reports on each payment. On other gateways it uses your fee rule: a percentage plus a fixed amount per payment. Fees count on the day of the order, and a refund never gives a fee back. Blended fee rate is all fees divided by all the money customers paid. The line under it says how much that was. Fee per order is all fees divided by your orders.

An example. In 30 days, customers paid €10.000,00 over 120 orders, and the fees came to €290,00. Blended fee rate is €290,00 ÷ €10.000,00 = 2,90%. Fee per order is €290,00 ÷ 120 = €2,42. Each chip compares with the same number of days just before. Red means fees went up, and green that they went down. Transaction costs gets a grey chip, since more sales always bring more fees. pp means percentage points: 2,90% to 3,10% is +0,2 pp.

Fees by gateway is a ring of your fees, one colour per gateway, with each one's share and amount. Hover a part to see it in the middle. Under the ring, of Net Revenue (30d) is fees as a share of Net Revenue. Net Revenue is what customers paid you after discounts and refunds, without VAT. The (30d) names your range, here 30 days. Priciest gateway and Cheapest gateway name the gateways with the highest and the lowest fee rate, with that rate. A gateway's rate is its fees divided by the money paid through it.

Payment mix over time shows how customers paid, one bar per day, week or month. Each bar adds up to 100%, split by each gateway's share of the money paid. The dashed line is the blended fee rate. When more people pay with an expensive gateway, the line rises even if no fee changed. Hover a bar to see each share and the money behind it.

Effective rate by gateway lists each gateway's fee rate, the highest first. Under each name are the average fee per payment and the number of payments. The fixed part of a fee hurts small orders most. At 2,9% plus €0,30, a €20,00 payment costs €0,88 in fees, which is 4,4%. A €200,00 payment costs €6,10, only 3,05%. A gateway may have no fee rule and no fee reported by Shopify. Then its payments count as €0,00, and the card warns you. Add rule opens the Transaction fees page in the sidebar, where you set one.

Chargebacks is about disputes: a customer asks their bank to take a payment back. The card groups them by the gateway of the original payment. It shows the number of cases, the money disputed and the fee. The Chargeback cost card at the top adds those fees up. But nouz does not read Shopify's dispute records yet. So on your store this card says No chargebacks in this period, and Chargeback cost shows €0,00. The dispute fee is not on your statement yet. A dispute only reaches nouz when Shopify records it as a refund. It then counts as an ordinary refund, in Returns.
