nouz vs SimplyCost (2026): Prices and Features Compared

nouz and SimplyCost compared on price at 300 to 5.000 orders, on VAT, cost history, shipping, ad platforms and stores, with the store each one fits.

The short answer

nouz is a daily 34-line Shopify P&L with VAT on its own line, CM1 to CM3 and every cost dated, at Base $55, Pro $115 and Scale $289 a month (about €49, €99 and €249). SimplyCost tracks profit, payment fees, shipping and ad spend on two plans, $9,99 a month to 600 orders and $29,99 unlimited, checked 6 Nov 2026.

nouz fits a Shopify store that wants a daily 34-line profit and loss statement with VAT on its own line, CM1 to CM3 and every cost kept with its date; SimplyCost fits a store that wants profit, payment fees, shipping and ad spend tracked for a small monthly bill, $9,99 up to 600 orders a month and $29,99 without a limit. CM1, CM2 and CM3 are the margins after goods, after shipping and fees, and after ads.

nouz is one of the tools compared here; competitor prices were read on 6 Nov 2026.

SimplyCost, made by Zapfor Apps, has been on the Shopify App Store since 2016 and keeps its offer plain: the same features on each of its two plans, which differ only by how many orders they cover. nouz is built around one question, how much a store made after all costs, and answers it with a statement laid out the way a European operator and their accountant read the numbers. This page sets the two side by side on price, VAT, cost history, shipping, ad platforms and stores. The table of every tool nouz is compared with prices the rest of the field, and the page on a Shopify profit tracker for EU stores covers how nouz handles VAT, payment methods and number formats.

  • nouz is Base $55, Pro $115 and Scale $289 a month (about €49, €99 and €249). Base covers up to 500 orders a month, and Pro and Scale have no order limit, every plan carries every feature, and each starts with a 14-day trial; billing runs through Shopify, month by month.
  • SimplyCost publishes two plans, checked 6 Nov 2026: Starter at $9,99 for up to 600 orders a month and Pro at $29,99 with unlimited orders, each with the same features and a 14-day trial.
  • VAT: nouz keeps every revenue line down to a Taxes line with VAT included, reads that line from Shopify's own tax lines, and states net revenue and every margin without VAT; SimplyCost's website shows its sales line "with shipping, tax left out" and has no help centre that explains its VAT settings.
  • Cost history: nouz keeps every cost type with the date it took effect; dated costs are not on SimplyCost's listing.
  • Ad spend: nouz syncs Meta, Google and TikTok and reads Shopify's Shop Campaigns, with any other spend entered by hand or from a CSV; SimplyCost lists six ad networks, Microsoft, Pinterest and Snapchat among them.

What each costs at 300, 500, 1.500 and 5.000 orders

SimplyCost's bill is easy to read: $9,99 while a store stays within 600 orders a month, $29,99 above that, and its listing shows no fee per extra order. nouz draws its own line once: Base covers up to 500 orders a month, and Pro and Scale have no order limit. The table prices the cheapest nouz plan and every SimplyCost plan at four volumes.

A month at four volumes, checked 6 Nov 2026: nouz on its cheapest plan that covers each volume, then every SimplyCost plan, with "upgrade" where a plan stops below the volume.

Read across, SimplyCost is the lower bill at all four volumes: at 5.000 orders a month it is $29,99 against $115 on Pro, or $359,88 against $1.380 over a year. What the difference buys is the subject of the rest of this page: a statement built for VAT, costs that keep their dates, logistics priced parcel by parcel, and analytics from product margins to customer lifetime value. The profit tracker cost calculator puts both, and every other tool priced by orders, at your own volume.

Where the profit starts: VAT and net sales

SimplyCost explains its arithmetic in one answer on its website: it starts with net sales and the shipping customers paid, then takes off the cost of the products sold, shipping and handling, payment fees, ad spend and the store's own expenses, and what is left is profit. The example statement on the same page labels its first line as sales with shipping, tax left out. The site has an FAQ and a set of general guides, on Shopify Payments fees and Managed Markets among others, but no help centre, and no page found there explains how it reads prices that include VAT, the tax handed back on refunds, or orders taxed at the rates of several EU countries.

nouz states VAT where a European merchant expects to find it. Gross merchandise value (GMV), discounts, shipping revenue, gross revenue and returns all include VAT, the way the shop prices. Taxes, line 12, is the VAT Shopify recorded on each order minus the VAT handed back on refunds, and Net Revenue, line 14, and every line below it exclude VAT. An order whose prices exclude tax, the norm in North America and for much B2B selling, is put on the same basis, each line grossed up by the rate Shopify actually charged on it, so it reads like its tax-inclusive twin. Every margin on the statement is then a share of money the store keeps, not of money it collects for the tax office.

Costs that keep their date

SimplyCost's listing covers the cost types a store needs: product costs, per-gateway processing fees and Shopify's own transaction fees, shipping and handling costs set by zone, weight, quantity or order value, and custom expenses with categories of their own. What the listing does not describe is a history: whether a supplier's price change applies from a date, and whether last quarter's orders keep the cost they were sold at when the cost changes today.

nouz keeps that history as rules, because a closed month that moves when somebody edits a cost is a month nobody can rely on. Every cost type carries an effective date: the unit cost of each variant, the five logistics components, the fee rule of each payment method and every overhead line. Saving a new cost closes the old rule the day before and opens the new one, each order is priced by the rule valid on its own day, and backdating a change re-prices only from the date given. TrueProfit went the other way in April 2026 and now keeps one current cost per product, recalculating past orders only when asked, as nouz vs TrueProfit sets out; on nouz a statement for March reads in November the way it read in April. Whichever tool you leave, write down each cost change with the day it took effect before you cancel; switching from TrueProfit walks through those steps in order.

A product's page in nouz: a new unit cost counts from the day you pick, and orders before it keep their own day's cost.

Shipping is where the two cost models differ most in detail. SimplyCost sets shipping and handling by zone, weight, quantity or order value. nouz prices each parcel through five components, each dated: a rate card by zone and by weight or parcel size, with zones you define and one catch-all so no order is left unpriced; pick and pack, as a base per order plus each additional item; packaging per order; return processing, a label and handling on the day of the refund; and packaging EPR, the producer fees a country charges on packaging, by destination country. A product without a weight, or a parcel to a zone with no price, is flagged rather than counted as free.

Ad spend, stores and what sits around the statement

On ad platforms SimplyCost lists the wider set: Google, Meta, Microsoft, Pinterest, Snapchat and TikTok Ads. nouz syncs Meta, Google and TikTok by API, reads the spend of Shopify's Shop Campaigns, and takes any other spend, an influencer budget or a network without a connector, by hand or from a CSV on the Overhead page. It measures marketing blended, as MER, the revenue per ad euro, POAS, the profit per ad euro, and CAC, the cost of winning a customer, with no tracking pixel and no attribution model, by design. If most of your budget runs on Pinterest or Snapchat and you want it to arrive without a spreadsheet, that is a real point for SimplyCost.

For several stores SimplyCost's listing names no plan or limit. nouz covers up to 5 stores on Pro and up to 10 stores on Scale, each with its own costs and statement, and adds stores up in one view when they share a currency. SimplyCost's statement runs by month, quarter or year, compares with a past period and prints. nouz's runs by day, week, month or any range, with comparison columns and lines that open into their parts, and the daily profit email brings yesterday's statement every morning. Around it sit Insights, with the margin of every product, returns, customers and an LTV tab of cohorts and LTV:CAC, Inventory, and a Forecast page that projects up to twelve months ahead, this one included. The first sync backfills the store's entire order history on every plan.

Which one fits

  • Choose nouz when

you sell into EU markets and want VAT on its own line, your shipping cost depends on parcels, zones and returns, your costs change and closed months must stay closed, or you run several Shopify stores in one currency. Base covers up to 500 orders a month, and Pro and Scale have no order limit.

  • Choose SimplyCost when

you want profit, fees, shipping and ad spend in one place for the smaller bill, you advertise on Microsoft, Pinterest or Snapchat and want that spend synced, and a statement by month, quarter or year is the depth you need.

The gap between the two is depth, not direction: both start from Shopify's orders and take costs off them. Each of these claims about nouz is listed, with where to check it, on the nouz facts page.

Other tools in the same price range

nouz is compared with the other low-priced trackers too. Kleio sells one plan at $29 a month per store with unlimited orders, set out in nouz vs Kleio. Bloom starts at $20 with unlimited orders, set out in nouz vs Bloom, and Bloom alternatives covers the tools around it. Sellerboard's Shopify app starts at $9, in Sellerboard alternatives for Shopify. Profit Calc and GoProfit price by order tier, in nouz vs Profit Calc and nouz vs GoProfit, and Profitario adds a fee for every order past its tier, in nouz vs Profitario. A store that keeps its margins in an ERP rather than a profit app will find the options in Odoo alternatives for Shopify, and the best Shopify profit tracker apps compares the whole field by what each tool measures.

How this comparison was made

SimplyCost's plans, prices and features were checked 6 Nov 2026 on its Shopify App Store listing and its website. nouz's prices and limits are read from the plans its checkout charges, as nouz's pricing shows them. No review figure is quoted for either tool, and nothing is scored. Where SimplyCost publishes nothing on a point, the tables say so rather than guess; its support is reached by email.
