Reading your P&L Answer 24 of 26 Updated

What does the Overview show?

Today's profit so far, how the last two weeks went, whether this month is paying for itself, where the month's money goes, and anything that keeps a number from being complete. It is fixed to today and this month in your store's timezone; any other range lives on the P&L.

Profit today, so far is today's EBITDA, as of the last sync. Each day carries its share of the month's fixed costs from its first hour, so a morning can read below zero and climb as the day's orders are synced. Beside the number sits its EBITDA margin, green, orange or red once you set margin targets. Daily profit draws the last 14 days, today included, with loss days hanging below the zero line and a dashed line at the average; point at a day, or use the arrow keys, to read it against the same weekday of the four weeks before, which yesterday shows first. Under the card, Net revenue, Orders, Marketing and MER show today's figure beside its last two weeks, and Orders counts the orders placed, as Shopify does.

This month pays for itself draws your contribution after marketing, CM3, adding up day by day against the month's fixed costs, with last month's pace in grey. Above the chart it names the day CM3 covered them, or Not yet, and how many days earlier or later than last month that was; point at a day to read it against the same day of last month. Where the money goes runs this month so far from net revenue through CM1, CM2 and CM3 down to EBITDA, each bar drawn as a share of net revenue and ending in a striped stretch that is what the step took; point at a row for the amount and the same days last year. Open the P&L opens the statement on exactly the same days.

Needs your attention lists what would make a number rest on a guess, each item with a link to the page that fixes it: products sold without a unit cost, an ad platform that is not connected or whose access ends within a week, payment methods with no fee rule, zones without a shipping price, and the other data health checks. Estimates, such as parcels priced without a weight or a size, wait behind one link while something else needs doing. When nothing is missing, it says so.

The sync badge and Sync now sit at the top, and while a change is being applied a note says the numbers are updating. With several stores selected, every figure adds them up, Stores in this view lists each store's own profit today, month so far and EBITDA margin, a row opening that store alone, and each attention item names the store it is about.
